Re: Chapter One

Post by Mirza on Mon Jun 30, 2014 3:39 pm

Mirza took a deep breath as the air calmed. The beast was done and Katie and Clara still lived. He had to admit: the two of them were growing on him. Mirza looked to Clara who had gotten up and moved to check the hole. He wanted to have a few more moments to rest.

Mirza closed his eyes. He could see the desert sky before him. The wind was light and cool, as it often was in the early mornings. He could smell the dry air. He missed the dry air. Since he had left Basil lands everything was humid and moist. It clogged his lungs and made him feel as though he were constantly swimming. The vision that now came to him was soothing. The sun's warmth beamed down upon him.

"Mirza..." He could hear Farah's voice trail off. He reached out. Lifting his gauntlet into the air. When he opened his eyes once more he saw the wet, dark stone ceiling and Mirza sighed. As he did so he could hear the heavy foot steps of a horse approaching. Mirza twisted left and twisted right to avoid the imminent trampling. He did and he hugged himself as relief flooded through him. It would have been awful to perish beneath a horses hooves after just slaying some magical beast.

Mirza pulled himself to his feet and brushed himself off as much as possible. After being on the ground he now found that he was pretty much completely soaked. Mirza hated being wet.

He walked over to the pit which he had plunged the monster into. Sure enough it met its demise on the spikes, but what was odd was that it now took the shape of a human. A naked human. Katie looked up at him and Clara. Mirza had thought that there was perhaps an exit at the bottom of the hole, but he was wrong. There was just a hole and spikes.

Mirza waved to Katie and then looked to the horse. Sure enough, tied loosely to the saddle was some basic hemp rope. Mirza took the rope and tied it around the horse. It was a tight fit and the horse didn't seem too pleased that Mirza was touching it, but there was a mutual agreement to save Katie. Once the rope was secure Mirza tossed it into the pit.

"Lets get moving! We got people to save!" He hollered.

The stallion stared into the cave. His name bounced off the walls inside.
~Katie?~ he lifted his eyebrows then without thinking he walking into the hole. He kepted his head low...since the ceiling was low to him. The smushy ground swallowed his hooves. He pinned his ears as a cobweb clinged to his face. He was gonna kill that woman! He shook his head wildly and stopped whe. His hooves met the solid stone that was under him. He opened one eye... A door...
~ no they wouldn't go in there..~ he rolled his eyes sarcastily. He then walked into the room to see corpses.
~ oh lovely... Chickens!~ he snorted to himself and looked around. A faded light shined in a corner, a hallway.

He shook his mane and walked towards it. The black walls had liquid dripping from then. He sidestepped as a drop almost fell on him... Hopefully this monster wasn't a dragon.. Damn things they are annoying as horseflies.
He continued to walk till he saw Clara and Mirza. He whinnied happily to the girl then glared at the man. He just didn't like guys... He got jelouse very easily... He walked past then and leaned looke down a black hole

Leave it to Katie to find a interesting hole and end up in it. He looked at Mirza who had took Katie's lasso from his saddle.

Katie watched the rope fall
" let's get moving!!! We got people to save!!" Mirza's voice echoed the hole. Katie looked at Trevor's body. She leaned to his ear and whispered goodbye. She looked at his necklace... It was a arrow head... Her arrow head which was her first arrow that she shot at a tree in practice which broke when she was trying to pull it out of the bullseye she made.

She took the necklace off and held it in her mouth. She got up and walked over to the rope. She wrapped it around her body, gave two pulls in warning that she was coming up and then started to scale the slick walls. Her bloody hands made it hard to hold the ropes. Her feet would slip every now and again but she was doing pretty good. She finally watched the top. Her hands released the rope and grabbed the edge. She started to bench herself up when the stallion bit the back of her cloak and pulled her up. The light from Mirza's sword showed how much of the werewolf's blood was on her.

" he's dead.." She panted as she rolled on her back and stared into her horse'a eyes
" Trevor... He's dead..." She closed her eyes tightly.. Cry later, not now girl... Gotto find Alex

Clara kept her hand on Ranger's neck, making sure he keeps strain on the rope. Mirza's sword shed light on Katie when she finally made it to the top, and Clara sucked in a breath. She was absolutely covered in Beast Blood, and looks both horrific and dangerous. Clara looked between the other two before sheathing her silver blade and adjusting her crossbow— mainly just to see if it was still there. She heard something clank against her back, but whatever it was could wait. "We need to find the kidnapped." She reminds, watching Katie with a form of sympathy. She knew the beast. Apparently t was a touchy subject, and Clara averted her eyes. It was strangely satisfying to be able to defeat something dangerous like that, and make it out alive. Now they had to find the people they were hired to save, and they could be anywhere. Hopefully close.

Re: Chapter One

Post by Mirza on Thu Jul 03, 2014 3:01 pm

Mirza lifted Therafim into the air and looked at how wide the pit was. It would be a long risky jump. Definitely not worth dying over, he assessed. Mirza looked once more at the dead naked man. He had left this world and his spirit would return to whatever god he favored. Strange, Mirza thought. He heard Katie call out to him and her current expression revealed more than fear. Perhaps she knew that man. He said a quick prayer in Ormazd' name and moved on.

Mirza moved cautiously back into the main chamber. The zombie corpses still lay motionless and the smell still lingered. Mirza stepped over the bodies and continued down the main chamber. He eventually came to three stone pillars, each with a symbol on it. Mirza approached the Pillars and beyond them lay a door. As Mirza inspected the Pillars closer he could see that the pillars could be rotated and that there were three symbols in total on each. One of an insect, one of a tree and one of a skull. Mirza looked to the door and noticed it had the symbol from the floor at the entrance. The center of the door appeared as though it had a mechanism that could be pushed. Mirza was hesitant to push it.

This kind of thing reminded him of the djinn tombs that would surface in the desert from time to time. The tombs of the djinns were very dangerous and littered with booby traps and foul creatures. Most who ventured in never returned, but those that did were rewarded with great treasure. Most legendary of all the known treasures from the djinn tombs were magic lamps, that when rubbed would reveal the essence of a djinn which would then grant wishes. Therafim is rumored to be one artifact recovered from a djinn tomb.

Mirza took a moment to stare at the pillars. He pondered what they might do. Perhaps they needed to be arranged in a pattern before the door was to be opened, but what could that pattern be?

Katie sighed and lifted herself up. Her eyes looked up at Clara. She smiled sadly and stood up.
She patted her horse's neck and took his reins and followed Mirza. She kepted her eyes low and listened to the sounds of Ranger's hooves. They came back to the chambers. She lifte her eyes to watch Mirza step over te motionless corpses.

" alright buddy, go outside" she releases his reins and the stallion trotted towards the door, lowered his head an was gone from view.
Katie then turned towards Mirza and quickly caught up with him.

Her eyes where lowered and her arms where crossed . Her black hair fell into her face. Katie didn't even notice that the man infront of her had stopped. Her body met his back and she quickly stepped back and shook her head
" sorry! Sorry!" She lifted her eyes and looked at him. She rubbed her arms. Why was this bothering her?? She sniffled a bit trying to hold back whatever feeling she had. C'mon Katie! Where is your killer self, your stone cold self? She looked past him, at the three pillars in front of him. She stared at the symbols.

" these are old." She glanced back at Mirza. She hesitated a bit then walked pasted him and stopped at the entrence.
" very.. Very old. Back to the the First War." She looked around the room. She notice the walls had symbols on it. Writings, paintings.. Old weapons. She grew curious but stayed where she was. The skeleton that layed in he middle of the floor have her a feeling there was possibly booby traps some where.

Clara follows after Mirza and Katie, walking over the bodies of the fallen undead until they stand before three pillars, and a door with a heavy mechanism that probably kept it closed. "It's a puzzle." Clara states obviously, sliding past the two until she's able to see things clearly. The young assassin has absolutely no idea how this works, but it's definitely a puzzle. A riddle, maybe? It's the first time she's ever faced this type of thing— but it excites Clara just the same. She's tempted to figure it out, but what if it's one of those puzzles that have a heavy consequence if you get it wrong?

The young assassin's hand lingered in the air, fingertips centimeters away from the tree symbol. Were they buttons? A combination lock? It really could be anything. Obviously the skeleton before them had chosen wrong, and Clara would want to make it past this door. The three of them managed to wipe out a hoard of undead, so this was nothing they couldn't handle. It just needed some time is all. There was a chance the people they had to save were behind that heavy set door, and the work they've done would be completed. Tuvera could spy them and be on their merry way. It sounded pleasant. Clara could buy a small place as far away from Carter as possible and never worry about anything again.

"Maybe even before that." He said in response to Katie.

Mirza studied the pillars for a few more moments. He eventually grew bored of staring and decided to start moving symbols. He wrapped his arms as tightly as he could around the stone pillar. To no surprise it was wet. Mirza finally decided that he couldn't get more wet and just continued to maneuver the stone. He shifted the pillars so that if one were to stand at the entrance of the room it would read: insect, skull, tree.

Mirza figured that if there were three symbols then there would be one each in the combination. He turned to Katie and looked her up and down. She still had her bow. He had seen her shoot and knew she was very accurate. Mirza had left his Siyah in the inn, something he often did. He relied much more on Therafim than his Siyah. Therafim was reliable and always sharp, but most importantly never ran out of arrows.

"Okay. I think that there is supposed to be some sort of combination with these pillars that opens the door. I'm not sure what will happen when we push that button. So instead of walking up there and getting impaled, I say you fire an arrow at it." He said as he placed a hand on his hip.

Katie had her arms crossed. She watched Mirza walk over and turn the pillars.
"Eww" she giggled as she saw the liquid get on him. It was clear that these pillars could open the door. She continued to look around she then turned her head to see Mirza looking at her
"What?" she then realized he was looking at her bow. She looked up at the button then back at him. What is he thinking?

"Okay. I think that there is supposed to be some sort of combination with these pillars that opens the door. I'm not sure what will happen when we push that button. So instead of walking up there and getting impaled, I say you fire an arrow at it." He said to everyone..
"Hmm..." she lifted her arm over her head and took a hold of the red bow. the silver tips flashed as she walked pasted Mirza.
She smirked at him.
"Alright." Her smiled faded quickly at she drew her bow and arrow. her arm held the string and arrow back steadily.

Katie stood quietly, her position perfect. Her eyes...they where completely focus on the small button. She took in a breath and closed one eye...then released. The arrow cut threw the air, it darted past the pillars then met the button then shattered. Most of her arrows where made for piercing flesh.
"There goes one arrow." she put her bow back behind her. just at that moment spiked came from the ceiling and floor blocking the door.

Katie looked at Mirza and chuckled
"Clear isn't the combination." She watched the spikes stay in there position then sink back down.
"Hmmmmm" she walked pasted Mirza and looked around. She spotted two symbols... a Skull... then a insect... but where is the third? She backed up and looked above them. Dirt and vines covered what ever was above them. She narrowed her eyes and took off her arrows and bow. She dropped her cloak and looked at the others.
"i'm curious" She then took a running start and jumped onto the wall. her feet hooked into the holes and she climbed to the little ledge above them.

the ledge was only a foot wide, so she had to be careful. She was only 15 feet above them but still if she fell it would hurt. She carefully walked over to the vines. she pulled out a small bone knife on her hip and began to cut it. she wiped away the dirt and stared at the symbol... a tree?
"well.... here is the third symbol.." she looked down.

Clara wasn't even sure how to work this out. She stood before the Skull, staring at it. "Shouldn't it be Tree, Insect, Skull? Like the life death cycle?" She asks, mainly to herself. Clara's not very confident in her newfound theory, and lets her emerald eyes trail after Katie as she scales a wall. It's all very strange, and Clara lets her fingers ghost over the stone very lightly. All three seem very detailed, and old, and it's cold to the touch. They don't even look like they can move, just carvings in stone. The young assassin ponders variables for the puzzle, all while making sure she doesn't touch anything that might cause them a setback. She would prefer to make it out alive. Katie's arrow's lie in pieces before the button, and Clara folds her arms. Well, whoever built this certainly didn't mean for it to be easy.

Clara glanced to the insect, blinking and wiping away dirt without using to much pressure. The bug looked like it had pinchers, and an odd design Clara's sure she's never seen before. The young assassin turns to look over her shoulder at Katie and Mirza. At least she's not the only one who can't quite understand this.

Re: Chapter One

Mirza watched Katie climb the wall. She was on to something. Before Katie could find the last symbol Mirza began shifting the pillars around again. They were heavy and required a lot of strength to move. Mirza could feel his muscles tense as he force the stone sideways.

"well.... here is the third symbol.." Katie said as Mirza reached the final pillar. Mirza stopped for a moment to take in Katie's postition. How did she get up there? He examined the wall and deduced that she must have some impressive acrobatics skills to reach her current location. Mirza lifted his brow and shook his head in acceptance. Impressive, Mirza thought.

Mirza stepped away from the pillar and stretched his arms. He looked at Clara, who appeared to be in deep thought. He realized in that moment that he knew very little about either of these girls. He knew Clara was fast, young, skilled and beautiful. She wore a cloak which meant she probably had something to hide, but other than that he knew nothing.

Katie was also beautiful and Mirza could think of few who had her skill with a bow. She was also a great rider from what he had seen, but he knew no more than that. He decided he would investigate this in more detail later. After all they were stuck working for Tuvera for an entire month.

He smiled and motioned his hand towards the button beyond the pillars. "Fire away Katie."

Katie smiled as she dropped from the ledge and grabbed it from the tip, she moved her hands slowly as she made it to the wall. she carefully stretched out her arm and grabbed the wall which then she jerked herself over then scaled down a bit then dropped.

Katie looked at clara who was obviously onto something
"Shouldn't it be Tree, Insect, Skull? Like the life death cycle?" Clara said, mostly to herself but katie had heard her speak
"you know... you may be right." she studied the pillars a little longer then looked at Clara . She wonder about the girl. She was pretty, young, smart and talented so why was she by herself? did she do something bad? kill someone? Katie flicked her eyes towards Mirza.. Her eyes narrowed slighty. He wasn't from here, he was from the desert, since his shoes gave that away, and katie knew that from the start. He was handsome and human... in her small town it was mostly elves or half elves. some humans now and again but they where either old, or ugly creepers.... Katie was aware of that too, So why is a man who is from the desert doing here, in the forest? Katie stared at his sword. It was defiantly enchanted of some sort.

The girl wasn't fond of enchanted things.. she didn't like magic in that case...she didn't like wizards... or Tuvara... fancy pants. She rolled her eyes at the thought of the blue man.
Add two more and then they could call themselves the blue man group... katie groaned. She then notice that Mirza had turned the pillars.
Katie notice that they all seemed ready for what ever will happen next.  The girl quickly grabbed her bow and took her stance. Katie took steady breaths. She held the string back. Recurves where hard to hold back but to Katie, it was the most easiest thing in the world.

3..2..1..[/i] the sound of Katie's arrow echoed the room. The arrow spiraled and met the mutton pushing it in and shattering the arrow...again
"Arrow 2... you know this arrows are not cheap." the girl waved another arrow at Mirza. She shook her head and smiled to herself then let it fade away and stared at the door. Hopefully...it opens.

Re: Chapter One

Clara turned to watch the totems be pulled into another pattern, and not long after Katie shot her arrow, there was a grinding sound and the heavy door started to slide open. Clara blinked, a little surprised her theory had been correct. She takes an eager step forwards, careful to sidestep the giant spike in the ground. It's colder in the open corridor, and it causes the young assassin to shiver. This place doesn't seem so inviting, but then again, this whole labyrinth seems pretty deadly anyways. Instead of reaching for her crossbow, Clara's fingers find the hilt to her silver blade, twisting it skillfully as she takes another few steps. She's waiting for a trap, or something to jump out at her, but it's quiet. The blonde is expecting another beast like the one Katie seemed familiar with, but it seemed like a one-way tunnel.

Convinced that there wasn't anything to worry about, Clara turns to her companions with her emerald green eyes shining in the low light. "I think we're safe." She says, firmer than her voice has been since they entered the place. It still surprises her how vast this place is, and if they'll bother to remember how to get out after everything's dead and gone. Clara wonders what Tuvera will say when they get back, but she's eager for praise. Clara really just wants to prove she's worth the trouble, despite her history of running away. She has her reasons, anyway.

Re: Chapter One

Post by Mirza on Thu Jul 24, 2014 12:54 pm

The room before them was dimly lit by the same green fire as previously encountered. Mirza looked around and took in the gloomy surroundings. On either side of the room were cages that hung from the ceiling, which Mirza guessed to be about fifteen feet high The floor was hidden by about three inches of water and Mirza could feel the squishy moss beneath his sandals. In each cage lay one of the missing people. They were all motionless and Mirza suspected they may be dead or unconcious. He began to rush in, but before he made more than a few steps he noticed at the far back of the room on a stone platform that rose from the murky floor, stood a woman.

She was tall and pale. Her features were angular and her skin was smooth. Her figure was slim and she wore dark green and black clothing. She had a staff that was gnarled and was decorated with various bones, plants and feathers.

Mirza stood puzzled. He was unsure if he should be afraid. The woman looked frail and surely did not have the strength of the wolf beast from earlier. Mirza wondered why she did not speak. She only stood there staring through her brow. Mirza drew Therafim and stepped into the center of the room. He held his hand up to Katie and Clara as if to instruct them to stand back. Mirza stood and pushed out his chest, he gripped Therafim tightly and held it out to the side. The woman began to laugh. It started soft and became ugly quickly.

"And who do we have here?" She began to walk down from her perch.

Mirza noticed that the platform which she stood had various tables and a cauldron. It was some sort of dark shrine. A place in which sacrifices and dark magic took place. Mirza stood, he could feel an aura come over him as she approached. It was chilling. Mirza could feel the cold of the desert night sweep over him. Terror overtook him. He was stone still. She approached and ran her hand across his chest.

"That blade you wield. I have heard only of its existance. A weapon of legacy." Mirza's eyes opened wide. She knew. "A weapon granted only to the prince of Al'Rasheed. Perhaps you killed him. Perhaps you are him." Her eyes met his. "A shame you have disrupted my operations here. I was just beginning to like this place. I am sorry I cannot stay and play, but I will leave you and your friends with a parting gift."

With that she waved her staff and said something in a strange language. A bright verdant light flashed and began to envelop the woman. As less and less of her became visible Mirza heard a whisper "Severa......"

Once she vanished Mirza could move again. The ground beneath him began to move. He could feel the soft floor rushing toward the center of the room. It formed a mound that began to shape itself into a mossy hulk. The creature before him had to be at least nine feet high and was wide and bulky. It was a golem of some kind, one made of moss, fungus and all manner of decomposing material. Its stench was fierce.

OOC: Severa used a fear aura on Mirza. I imagine it would have a similar effect on Clara and Katie

Katie watched the group walk into a room. She hung back a bit, but then continued after them. The room they entered was cold and dark. she looked around to see cages...with the missing people in them. Katie caught sight of alex...he was still. Mira's hand caught Katie's attention.

The girl stopped and quickly saw the lady..she was very pale..and thin and pretty. Katie narrowed her eyes and growled as she came over. The woman looked straight at her then back at mirza...Katie didn't really pay attention to the conversation... until the word 'prince ' came up. Katie's cold blue eyes shot over to mirza... was he a prince? Or did he murder a prince?
Mirza seemed to be frozen...under a spell of corse but what spell? Katie then thought about her bow...now if she could just..

POOF! the woman was gone! Vanished into thin air... the ground started to move it seemed! moss, stones and even the left over corpses where all sucked into the middle of the room. A hulk like creature began to form.
"I don't think this is  normal woman...or witch...if she is a witch." Katie said her thought aloud.

Clara stares at the cages. Those are people, and Clara lets out a soft noise that sounds like a whimper. Did they make it in time? The young assassin follows Mirza until a hand flies up to stop her. It's a bit offensive, because she can handle herself just fine honestly, but doesn't complain when her eyes catch sight of the pale woman who stands at tentatively before them. She's abnormally beautiful, and Clara frowns at her. She seems highly amused with their presence, and it makes the young assassin even more irritated. Was this labyrinth hers? She spoke to Mirza and to him only, and Clara's emerald eyes snapped to the back of his head when Prince was uttered from this woman's lips. So, what is he then? Runaway royalty?

Clara's attention doesn't return until the creepy woman begins muttering dialect she can't ever red all hearing before. It doesn't sound good, especially with the swirls of darkness that are taking this woman away. What replaces her is much worse.

Clara finds herself staring at trees— Mirza and Katie disappeared into thin air. There's a clearing just past a few bushes that are in front of her, but Clara can't seem to move. Back in the corridor, Clara is pressed against the wall of the room, cowering in fear. Her body already knows what's to come way before her mind. Clara searches the trees frantically, suddenly feeling a wash of fear. She knows this place. It's hard to forget, but Clara can't seem to place it. It's the roar that sends her heart thrashing in her chest.

It's a bear.

It all happens in front of her— Clara's father jumps out from nowhere and into the bear's way, and Clara watches helplessly as the bear and her father duel. The large animal is clearly winning, and Clara tries to move but she cant, wants to get her father and run. Instead, the man stumbles back onto the ground and the bear lifts it's heavy paw and swipes at her father, slicing his abdomen deep and forcefully. There's a scream— and there's no telling who'd it had come from.

Clara had never been exposed to a fear aurora before. It brings back fear, but sometimes, it brings back trauma. Clara hasn't cowered at the sight of something in a long time, but she's curled into herself, back pressed against the wall, hood covering her face as the blonde hair peeks out from the material. In the hallucination, Clara's looking upon her fathers broken and bleeding body. It's ten times worse than it was the first time, and she just wants to run away. She didn't ask to see this again, and despite Clara's fear, she can't tell what's real and what isn't. Whoever that woman was, she was powerful, and she was good.

The monster stood as it found its shape. It briefly scanned the room and found Mirza, Clara and Katie. It groaned and then opened its gaping maw. Its mouth was filled with discarded bones that now found a purpose as teeth. It let out a roar and lashed out. Its long, damp arms stretched out towards Mirza. It was slow, but Mirza was till recovering from the shock of his discovery. He looked up to see the vines and muck advancing for him. He would have to figure out what to do about this Severa woman later.

He ducked to the side just in time. The golem's arm just missed him. Mirza tried not to think about the consequences of getting hit. As Mirza gained what footing he could he surveyed the room. Not much to work with. As he scanned he noticed that Clara was still in a trance. She looked paralyzed with fear. The monster turned slowly and eventually noticed Clara as well. Mirza could see the hulk raise its mossy arm into the air. Mirza did not hesitate. He ran at Clara and tackled her. For the second time today. The monster's arm just missed the two of them. They splashed into the wet ground.

Mirza found himself on top of Clara, knees in the shallow water. He shook her frantically.
"Snap out of it Clara!" he shouted. He glanced up at the golem. It was moving in for another swipe.

The monster went after Mirza and Clara it miss them but still was coming at them. Katie hesistated then narrowed her eyes.
"OVER HERE YOU BIG UGLY BEAST!" Katie laughed then stopped as the monster turned to her and started to stomp after her.
"Oh oh no plan no plan!!" Katie started to run. The monster was slow yes, but its huge steps made him quickly catch up. Katie did a sharp turn and slide to a stop. In front of her was a void. the monster was getting close. Katie looked up to see a fire torch...way above her and this thing.

The monster let out a roar as it came closer and closer. Katie stood like stone. She quickly got the rope that she had token off of ranger. she tied it to her waist then to her arrow.
"Please work.."
the monster took a swing... Katie jumped off the ledge. She then shot the arrow that went above the monster. Her arrow dug into the soft top of the cave. Katie smiled and rocked back and forth to get a swing going.

The rope was now swinging back and forth. the monster roared at Katie as she swung by.
"Woohoo! look at me!!" she was trying her hardest to sidetrack the monster but he soon re focused on the other two.
The girl gasped then looked up. she had to get the torch! Maybe this thing was like a troll and could die by fire.
The girl quickly climbed the rope. She would look down to see the golem getting closer to them. Katie got to the top and reached for the torch. she grabbed it... and a hot coal fell off.. burning the girls hand.

She bit her lip and held onto it. she slide down the rope, ignoring her now bleeding hands.
She grabbed a arrow and Burned it. Fire rose from the tip. She pulled back her string and held her arrow...3...2...1
she released the arrow....

Re: Chapter One

Clara watched the hallucination in mock fear, until a force sent her spiraling onto her side and into cold wet stone. The young assassin blinks her cloudy emerald eyes reality and fantasy blurred and incoherent. Clara can hear her voice being called, but it's not her father screaming for her to run, but Mirza demanding she snap out of the trance Severa had successfully placed on her. Her eyes are in focus, and Clara's suddenly very aware of their surroundings. The young assassin zeroed in on the rouge prince sitting atop of her, shaking her from her stray traumas. Behind him is probably the second strangest beast she's seen since she's step foot in this damned labyrinth. Clara head swivels back and forth until she meets Mirza's gaze with a curt nod, acting like there wasn't fear dancing in her eyes.

Katie was doing an excellent job distracting whatever the hell had been summoned, and Clara watched with alarm as she narrowly dodged the clobbering swipes. "I-I'm fine," she stutters, sitting up and reaching behind for her crossbow. She feels it clinging to her back, but it doesn't feel right. There's warmth where her crossbow should be, and it dawns on her that her crossbow had broken in pieces, and successfully pierced her skin when the dog beast from earlier had smashed her into a wall. That wasn't important, and instead of dwelling over her precious weapon, she brings the silver blade close and looks over to the tall limbering monster that was walking towards Katie, who was aiming a flaming arrow at it.

Clara watched with wide eyes as she released it, sending it into one of the cracks in the monster's stone armor. It howled a long moan, and it sounded like an undead, and it was chilling. Clara would've never guessed that fire would do the trick, but it seemed to be effective. Crouching, Clara observes the situation, and how she was going to be of any use at all. The golem recovered slowly, but it had itself set on Katie now. It was angry, and the archer was the only one who could defeat this monster without having to get up close. Range was important. Should she do something stupid? Risk herself? This guy was serious, and the damage he dealt was ridiculous, but Clara could handle herself.

She feels soggy from the wet ground, and it's slightly uncomfortable. She strides forward, watching the golem look over it's shoulder and finding her almost immediately. It was a small space, but if Katie could get a few more well placed shots, this could work. They could save the kidnapped and get their rewards.

Clara's eyes glance back and forth from the two companions, knowing she knew all hell about spells. If they did.. Then it would be a success. She would just have to be careful. She'd be fine.

Mirza could hear the monster scream as it came to. It was in that same moment that Clara came around as well. She nodded to him and he got up. She was okay. Mirza did not want to lose her or Katie. The two were the closest things to friends he had made since he left Al'Rasheed. It had been a long time since he had been accepted by anyone.

The monster returned its focus to Clara, a small spark of flame on its hide. It lumbered forwad. She seemed to be back to herself for the moment. Mirza took this opportunity to attack the creature. He needed to learn its weakness. He noticed the flaming arrow had done some damage, but the monster still moved. The flames still burned, which Mirza found odd. Still, if fire was its weakness Mirza would be stuck hacking and slashing until the thing dropped.

Mirza dashed forward, careful to move in a zig-zag so as to avoid any blows. Lucky for him the golem ignored him completely. Mirza took a swipe at its leg with Therafim as he ran. He did not slow his speed until he was sure there was distance between him and the monster. He turned. The monster's leg was pierced and it stopped to inspect its wound. As the golem took in its new scar it looked to Mirza. It roared at him, seemingly unphased by the gash in its leg. The wound did not heal, but it did not seem to slow the monster either. It simply returned to its persuit of Clara.

Mirza let out a loud sigh. He looked down to Therafim "Don't let me down now. We can do this." he said to the blade.

The monster had gotten another wound by Mirza.
" good, good" she smiled then saw Clara. The girl seemed to had come out of her trance and was now aware. Katie looked at her bow and the torch that was in her hand. Katie lit another arrow and shot the monster right between, the shoulder blades.. If this thing had shoulder blades.

The golem jerked his head back and let out a booming sound. He turned his attention to Katie and he pushed whoever or what ever was in his way. It's fleshy lips curled back and revealed pointed bones.
" this ain't good..." Katie looked at the monster, then at Clara. She narrowed her eyes and ran at the monster then slide under it's legs an tossed her bow and arrows at Clara right as the monster grabbed Katie's legs and hung her upside down.

The golem lifted Katie and stare at her.
" you are one ugly monster, you now that?" Katie chuckled" I mean I've seen forest goblins and wart covered trolls, oh don't forget Bruce. He's ugly too... But you haha you win the ugly contest! Congrats!" Katie clapped while hanging. A growl came and then a roared which a horrid smell was blown into the girl's face.
" oh grandma! What bad breath you have" she waved her hand in front of her face.
" yuck, " she crinched her nose. The monster tilted back his head and opened his mouth and lifted Katie above him.
" whoa, whoa there partner, eat me? I mean if you want to have heart burn...then go ahead eat me." She smiled as she pulled from her pocked a match box...

The eyes of the golem widened and then with a mighty swing, he flung Katie away. The hard stone floor met Katie's body. A hard SMACK echoed the room. The girl remained still and a small bit blood slide down the side of Katie's head. The golem started to walk to the unconscious girl...

Clara's focus transitioned from Katie to the golem, backing up in a quick enough pace to stay out of reach. The next events happened much quicker than she expected. A longbow with a quiver filled with perfectly made arrows were tossed into her arms. Clara easily caught them, albeit a little confused. She stared at Katie for a moment, watching as Katie distracted the giant boulder monster. Clara blinked, slinging the quiver over her soggy, probably bloody, back— and fumbled for an arrow. She needed fire; it seemed to work for Katie when she'd tried it. Clara was not even as good as she wanted to be with traditional archery, as she had always been familiar with her father's crossbow. It's out of date compared to the crossbows she's used to seeing in the Thieves' Guild, but it works for her... when it's not broken.

Clara watches in horror as Katie is thrown like a straw doll across the chamber, colliding with the stone wall with a audible thump. "Katie!" Clara yelped, emerald eyes widened in surprise. Why would she sacrifice herself like that? Clara frantically searched for a torch, or some source of fire. One was lit on the far end of the room. It was a bit away, but distance would be a good tactic, right? Desperate to grasp some sort of advantage on the new monster, Clara sprinted across the murky chamber, past trauma long forgotten. She reaches the torch just as the monster is closing in on the helpless girl slumped on he other side of the room.

Clara holds the tip over the flames, watching it lick and swipe at the wood eagerly. It burns frantically after a second, and Clara hurries, aiming unsteadily at the golem. She pulls on the string as much as her strength can allow, hoping the force of the arrow makes up for her accuracy. Aiming for a weak spot, Clara lets go— watching the arrow slice across the room and land in the joint of the golem's leg. It pauses and lets out a pained roar, turning around. Clara breathes out a sigh of relief, shaken up at what could've just happened. Why else would Katie throw her weapons to her? It was strategy, and the three of them were a team.

The young assassin looks for Mirza, spotting him after a moment. His sword. The light spell. He's got to know more enchantments, he has too. Clara's at a loss for words, and goes for another arrow— holding it over the flames again. If Mirza can figure it out, the least she can do it slow the thing down, more than usual at least. Clara aims again, eyes locking with the golem's hollow orange ones. It feels terrifying to stare it in its eyes, and Clara shivers.

She releases the burning arrow, watching it as it lands in another exposed area. It's not as accurate as Clara would hope to be, but it works well enough to buy them time.

Re: Chapter One

Post by Mirza on Tue Aug 12, 2014 1:07 pm

"Nar..."
"Infijar..."

Mirza heard a faint whisper. He looked down to his glowing blade. He had been very reluctant to dismiss his light spell. It had given him and his companions sanctuary from what otherwise would have been a very dim setting. The blade was glowing red. This was new. He knew Therafim was a mythical weapon with many secrets, but he only knew a handful of them.

Four years ago Mirza had entered the anual sword dancing competition. Many young noble boys participated in this contest, eager to show off what their wealthy parents had paid for in terms of expensive training. Mirza was the prince and his father being the prideful Sultan that he was had enlisted the Hassansins to train him. Mirza took the tournament by storm; Dancing through rival after rival until at last no challenger stood. These duels were not to the death of course, but the entirety of the nobility cheered as though it were. Mirza was hailed champion and as his prize his father gave him Therafim. It was a blade of legend. A weapon Mirza had only heard stories of prior to that day. It was lighter than any scimitar he had wielded before and its magical effects could be felt as soon as he gripped the hilt.

The magic of the blade swept over him. It was a feeling of calm, like everything around him was peaceful and at that moment Mirza knew the blade had chosen him. It was later that his father taught him of the weapon's secret power 'Sarsarun'. The command word was "Barra Sarsarun" and when spoken by the weilder would cause Therafim's next slash to literally cut the wind, allowing the swipe to travel a distance. It was very powerful and would cut through multiple objects. There was another command word 'Urdu' which caused the blade to light up like a torch. It was an amazing weapon and Mirza was very proud of it. It was one of two things he took from the palace when he left.

Mirza had only heard the blade whisper to him once before. It was the day before he left Al'Rasheed. A hassansin by the name of Radkar had been chasing him. He had recognized Therafim one day when Mirza used it in a duel against a tavern dwelling mercenary. Radkar was a master marksman with a Siyah and he had Mirza cornered. Therafim shined a light blue color that day and it whispered "Ha'et Sarsarun" to him. He yelled the command word as Radkar notched an arrow. A tall wind wall erected before him and the arrow was deflected. Mirza escaped Radkar and fled the city the next day.

Nar Infijar. Mirza continued to stare at the weapon. This was a new command. He looked up to see Clara pelting the golem with arrows. She had Katie's bow. Mirza searched frantically for Katie. He found her on the opposite side of the room, lying on the ground. She was not moving. Mirza yelled and ran to her. He crouched beside her. There was blood running down her forehead. Mirza placed his hand on her chest. She was still breathing. He let out a breath of relief.

Mirza stood and tightened his grip on Therafim. His face turned grim and he spoke: "Nar Infijar" he said as pointed the tip of his scimitar at the gloem's gaping maw. A twist of red light engulfed Therafim and with massive recoil the sword let loose a ball of flame. The fire spiraled through the air until it connected with the monster's face. A loud bang shook the room as the golem was torn to pieces. Mirza flew back and hit the wall. The impact knocked the wind out of him.

Mirza clutched his chest and looked up to see the monster reeling in pain. It's entire front section had been blown away and a glowing orange heart, beating hastily, was exposed. One of the golem's arms had been completely blown off, but still it moved. Mirza could see the the moss and vines starting to move from the floor. They were repairing the monster. Mirza looked to Clara. She would have to act fast if they were to finish this thing off.

"Hush a by..." a soft voice filled katie's ears. "Dont you cry"
Katie's eyes opened slowly... she was in room... her room..A small black puppy came over and licked her face. it's tail swishin side to side.
"Pep..pepper?" katie blinked a couple of times then lifted her self up and looked around. The walls where made by beautiful dark wood..so was the floor. A oak dresser sat in the left corner. Above her was a window that golden rays of sun shines threw dapplin the wooden floor.

small wooden swords and cotton filled dolls where on the floor.. katie looked to the right and stared down a small hallway. a room remained on the left and further down a bigger room. the walls had painted pictures on it.
"Hi Katie..." a warm voice made katie jump. Pepper was waggin her tail as Katie's hand patted her head.
"Mo-mom..."
A beautiful blonde hair woman sat on the corner of the bed. her long wavy hair flowered around her face. Her deep warm brown eyes shined brightly. Katie let out a gasp and lurched forward wrappin her arms around her mother.
"Mom!!" the girl closed her eyes and began to sob. the woman rested her head on the girl's head and gently petted behind Katie's head.
"look at you..." Her mother said as she sat Katie up softly.
"All grown up." she smiled, her her eyes squinted a bit since her cheeks rose up. tears filled her eyes.
"Ryder!" she called, not lookin away from her daughter. A tall man walked in wiping his hands on a cloth lookin down.
"Yes Mar-" he stopped when he looked up..

"Katie.." he whispered. His hair was scruffy and jet black like Katie's...he had brown eyes too that where the color of chocolate. he had a golden natural tan. he had stubbles on his chin and a couple of scars.
"Darlin.." he gently strided over and stared at her before fallin on his knees and huggin her. he clamped his eyes shut and held her.

warmth filled katie. For the first time she felt her body heat up with the love of her parents. Their comfort.
The two adults pulled away and smiled at their daughter.
"So beautiful..." her father said softly. the three and the mutt sat in the small room. Katie just soaked in the moment.

"Am i dead?" katie broke the silence. Ryder and Marie looked at each other.
"for the moment.. but you have to go back. Your not ready." Marie whispered.
"What no, please let me-" Katie started.
"Your friends need you." Ryder smiled. the beautiful well litted roomed started to fade.
"No please!" katie pleaded. Pepper licked Katie's hand, Marie kissed her cheek then Her father smiled and leaned forward.
"I'll see you again.." he then kissed her forehead.

Pain shot threw the girls body. her arm felt as if thousands on electric bolts where shootin threw it. katie tried to lift her head but the room spun rapidly around causin her to fall back. Her head pounded and her ribs stung.
"Cla-" katie started.. a ringing sound echoed in her ears. she clamped her eyes shut to stop the room from spinnin
"Mir-" she only manged to whisper. she couldn't hear anythin but could feel violent vibrations...the monster was alive? still??

Clara held another arrow over the fire, eyes trained on Mirza and Katie. Adrenaline pumped through every vein in the young assassin's body, hoping that this fight would turn in their favor. When a flaming fireball collides with the golem, Clara helps in surprise, taking the quickly burning arrow out of the flame. The golem wasn't dead. The vines were slowly recovering, trying to heal what had been injured. Except, Clara wouldn't let that happen. She brought the arrow to the string, pulling on the bow until it arched perfectly. Emerald eyes locked onto the slowly disappearing target, and she let go. It flew into the area, but not spot on. Vines recoiled from the heat, pausing the process.

Clara fumbled for another arrow, habitually holding it over the torch for a moment until the tip was alight with fire. She had to get it, or they might not get out of here alive. With a shaky breath, Clara aimed once more— arms quivering slightly. She could see the vines trying to fix the golem again, and panic rose through the girl. She had to get it. Exhaling briefly, she lets go of the arrow— watching it soar and plant itself deep into the glowing heart of the golem. There's a tremor in the ground, and Clara lowers Katie's bow to watch the golem slowly begin to crumble, the rock melting like it was dropped in lava.

Clara was shaking. Was it over? Did she kill it? She stayed stock still as tremors continued to run through the ground below them. So many things were running through her mind, but she watched the monster struggle for life, or something to grasp onto, and for a moment, Clara thought it might just find that. Anxious to watch the monster meet it's demise, her fingers clenched the bow tightly. Die. She pleased to herself. How hurt was Katie? Was she still awake? They needed to free the prisoners and get them back to the town. Ranger came to mind very fleetingly, and she wondered if calling her horse would get her to safety quicker.

The people were largely unharmed, but it appeared that Severa had been attempting to steal their life force. What plans she has is unkown, but the safe return of all the missing people is welcomed by the entire town of Farwyn town.

The next month passes quietly with our three young adventurers getting to know eachother quite well. They have minor adventures and enjoy the quiet time.

Tuvera turns out to be very kind and charitable and begins training some of the locals and men he brings in from other parts of Turast to act as permanent guards.

Morer details will be gone over in the side tales and epilogue.
