The Arkose Empire Empty The Arkose Empire

Post by Mirza Wed Jul 16, 2014 11:14 am

I felt with the possibility of going to the city next chapter that I should give some more insight as to the Arkose Empire. I touched on them briefly in the races of Turast post, but now i will elaborate more on the subject.

History:
The Arkose have been around for only about 300 years. They are centered around the Church of Iomedae. Though there are many religions practiced throughout the empire, Iomedae is most worshiped. The Arkose rose from small villages that banned together under an avatar known as Kaliel. Kaliel preached the ways Iomedae and taught the early Arkose people organized combat. It was Kaliel's teachings that helped the Arkose rise to power.

The united people, under Iomedae's banner and Kaliel's guidance, banned together. Early Arkose were comprised of a group of lords, the leader of which was Jeralt Arkose who was chosen to be the king by Kaliel. They claimed a large amount of land and eventually came into conflict with the Earthhelm Dwarves. The war was long and bloody and the dwarves only submitted to the Armose once the Vedalken wizards of the Kelvas Bay joined with Kaliel and Jeralt.

Once the Dwarves Submitted, and the Vedalken willingly joined the empire, the Elves of Maralen and Greenstone formed an alliance with the growing power that was the Arkose. Shortly after this Kaliel Ascended, revealing herself to be an angel.

There have been minor wars since the War of EarthHelm, but mainly with outside forces. For example in more recent times: a man named Kurik managed to unite many of the barbarian clans of the Silican mountains and took a lot of land from the Arkose. It seemed that there would be a new ruler of the Silican Peninsula, but under a great knight by the name of Rydelus Archaic the Arkose managed to push Kurik and his barbarians back to their mountains. Kurik was slain by Rydelus and the barbarian clans fought amongst themselves as they tried to find leadership.

The Arkose Empire Empty Re: The Arkose Empire

The Arkose tie their religion and military together very closely.

The Royal Knights lead much of the armed forces and are responsible for the training of Arkose soldiers. When the empire is not at war the armies are largely disbanded and it falls to the Royal Knights to defend the Arkose people.

The leader of the Royal Knights is a very prestigous position and is second only to the council of Lords. It is often the leader of the Royal Knights that makes the executive decisions for the empire.

The current leader of the Royal Knights is Archer Arkose. He his the only son to Cason Arkose (the current king) and sole heir to the throne. He has a long with the Arkose armed forces, even fighting alongside Rydelus Archaic during the final battle with Kurik.

The King of the Arkose is mostly a figure head, and although he has supreme power leaves much of the decision making for the empire to the council of lords. There are five lords, each governing over one of the major cities.
